Portland 38 | AREA
Just steps beyond the Portland 38 community is a burgeoning neighborhood with exciting places to eat, drink, and shop. Across 7th street from Portland 38 is Roosevelt Row, one of the best enclaves in Phoenix to walk to a variety of locally-owned restaurants, galleries, and music venues. Each month entrepreneurs open new establishments, creating a critical mass for a vibrant and livable urban experience. In addition to Roosevelt Row, the surrounding Garfield historic neighborhood has its own jewels, including the Welcome Diner just a block away (10th Street and Roosevelt), Rito’s (14th Street and Garfield), and the Alwun House (12th Street and Garfield).
A few more steps away, but within a mile, are dozens of other interesting destinations---Heritage Square, Sheridan Square, the Phoenix Art Museum and Central Library, and of course, the downtown sports and cultural facilities. This is only today’s downtown---billions of dollars of planned new developments (both public and private) will continue to make downtown the place to be.
